Source: US uses every excuse to tarnish Deripaska’s reputation

MOSCOW, Jan 24 (PRIME) -- The West will use any absurd excuse in order to destroy reputation of Russian tycoon Oleg Deripaska and prevent him from working, a source close to Deripaska told PRIME on Tuesday.

On Monday, the U.S. Justice Ministry said that Washington charged former high-ranked FBI agent Charles McGonigal and former Soviet–Russian diplomat Sergei Shestakov with working for Deripaska. The ministry said that Shestakov and McGonigal colluded in 2021 in order to provide services to Deripaska in violation of the U.S. sanctions.

“Any Russian industrialist who has been investing into the economic development of his country for decades automatically become an evil adversary for the West and a target for the special services,” the source said.

“A real hunt has been launched for Oleg Deripaska from all sides. He was included in the sanction list and forced to leave the companies he founded, but they will not stop. They are using any absurd excuse to tarnish his reputation and prevent him from working.”
